Orthodontics
Orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics is the dental specialty that includes the diagnosis, prevention, interception and correction of malocclusion, as well as neuromuscular and skeletal abnormalities of developing or mature orofacial structures. The therapeutic objectives of orthodontics in adults and children are not very different. The difference lies in that the treatment of children lies in preventive, interceptive and corrective orthodontics, while in adults it focuses on corrective orthodontics. When developing an adequate treatment plan, it is essential to work in synergy with other specialists such as: maxillofacial surgery, periodontics, prosthodontics, pediatric dentistry, endodontics, among others.
